Drug addiction is an overwhelming physical & psychological desire of needing immediate supply of drugs. Compulsively action would be taken on seeking to use a substance regardless of the potentially negative social, psychological, and physical consequences. In severe cases, the absence of drug will trigger psychosomatic reaction symptoms which can begin almost instantly. Action driven by the physical & psychological need to maintain a certain level of the drug at all times could dominate the addictive person’s thoughts, and if in certain level is not acquired then the body physically rebels by exhibiting withdrawal symptoms that may include nausea and vomiting, insomnia, irritability, diarrhea, and bone and muscle aches.
Psychological symptoms of drug addiction vary according to the type of drug and the length of time that the addict has been using, but the most common symptoms include: Prolonged personality & attitude changes; Extreme mood swings fluctuation, bouncing between euphoria and paralyzing depression; Social withdrawal, becoming late all the time, missing appointments, or forgetting commitments; and worst, Losing cognitive recognition, brains may not fully process the long-term consequences of their choices and they may compute information less efficiently, putting themselves and others in danger or high risk caused by the slow response on avoiding dangerous situation. When things becoming more out of control and dangerous, that exactly is the perfect time to execute immediate intervention to the drug addict.
